Shop Monitor Activities
Obtain the Shop key from the Welcome Office.
Unlock the doors and turn on the lights.
Sign in and wear your name badge on the Monitors vest.
Turn on the interior air filtration cleaners as needed.
Close both bleed valves and turn on both air compressors.
Place red signs on shop tools. In shed, turn off the dust collector power switch. Check/empty the dust bin. Turn on the dust collector power switch. Log observations. The red light on the wall is a “fail safe” to notify when the container is overfilled. Remove the red signs from the shop tools.
Safety – Appropriately adjust Member activities to maximize Shop safety.
Observe – Members have various skill levels; watch accordingly.
Attentive – Focus on Member activities, not personal activities.
Mentor – Be available to assist Member needs.
Clean:
Air Filtration Filters,
Down Draft Sanding Station filters,
Shop vacuums and filters,
Benches, tools and floors,
Empty garbage cans,
Empty the dust collection canister in the shed as necessary.
Check the lathes to make sure that the spindle speed is “0”, the power switch is “off”, the spindles are not locked and the air bleeders are turned off.
Help Members prevent the red light from illuminating on the drum sander.
Sell wood, craft supplies and classes.

Drain both reservoirs, turn off both air compressors and open both bleed valves.
Make sure hand tools are put away and stationary tools are turned off.
Either set air filters to run for one hour or turn them off.
Sign out, hang up the Monitor’s vest and replace your name badge.
Turn off the lights and lock the doors.
Return the Shop key to the Welcome Office.
